Virtual Counseling
Progress Counseling, LLC is an exclusively virtual
mental health counseling practice.
All sessions are conducted online.
YOU MUST BE PHYSICALLY IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA OR NORTH CAROLINA TO PARTICIPATE IN SESSIONS
I offer a free, optional initial virtual consultation to help you test out the process before beginning your work with me.
Prior to your first session, I will walk you through how to sign on to my easy-to-use HIPAA compliant online counseling platform. All of your paperwork and sessions will be accessed through this platform with minimal effort on your part. Clients tell me the process is simple and convenient for them. All of the other components of our sessions will be the same as in-person therapy. We will get to know each other, identify what your goals are, and talk, learn, and heal together.
My Thoughts On Virtual Counseling
If you had asked me what I thought about online counseling in February of 2020, I would have told you there'd be no chance I would ever do my job that way. I am 17 years into this career, and seeing my clients plop down on my comfy couch only a few feet away from me was all I had ever known. Human connection is sacred to me, and I was convinced that virtual sessions would feel impersonal and could never measure up to the energy of sharing the same physical space with my clients.
Then, COVID took the world as we knew it and flipped it completely upside down. I walked out of my office in Mid-March of 2020, after seeing dozens of clients face to face that week, and the very next week, I suddenly had to figure out how to be a virtual therapist. This was not an easy transition for me, but gradually, I have learned to love it. These days, I get excited at the sound of my clients signing into their sessions and when their faces suddenly pop up in front of me, I feel the same joy I used to feel when I saw them in my waiting room. The screen melts away, and I feel every bit of the connection I have always felt with them. I have learned that I don't need to share the same room with a person to share safety, attachment, and growth.
I have fallen in love with being able to offer convenient, safe, and effective therapy online. You can get comfortable, hop on your computer or phone and dive right into your session without ever having to waste time or gas money on a commute (and no traffic to fight with either). Due to the flexibility of virtual sessions, I can also offer half session check-ins when needed, and you can have additional individuals sign on to participate in family or couples work without having to commute to the same location at the time of your session. Although I still live and work out of Southwest Florida and have many connections to referral sources and providers in this area, I also have clients all over the state of Florida and North Carolina. I hope you'll give virtual counseling a try and enjoy it the way that I do!
(PLEASE NOTE: You must physically be in the state of Florida or North Carolina to do virtual counseling with me due to licensing laws. You need a strong WiFi connection and a private place to sign on for sessions.)
